How long does a murder mystery take to play?

How long does a murder mystery game for 28 people take to play?

My response:

I would expect a typical murder mystery game on this site (such as Murder at Sea or Hollywood Lies to take about 2.5 hours of playing time to play through.

However, I would also add an hour beforehand for people to arrive (and perhaps eat), and at least half an hour afterwards for people to unwind.
