Hey there, I'm wanting to host a murder mystery night for around 24 people. I have been looking at Casino Fatale and Hollywood Lies. I have also been looking at some other options on other websites.
For some genuine advice is it always better to have a designated host who guides the room and knows what is going on? Rather than trying to play a game with the host included? I'm getting that impression from your website and since you are a seasoned game player I'm keen to get your thoughts on this.
Following this, which is the better game of the two I have listed above? We're looking for a silly, intense and challenging game.
Big fan of all the side quests and challenges too.
My response:
Hi - thanks for your query!
For Casino Fatale or Hollywood Lies, I would always have an independent host. There's lots going on in those games (and lots of side plots), and they benefit from someone having a neutral role who can oversee everything.
As for which is better, both are great games that work well with 24 players. Casino Fatale has a James Bond vibe, while Hollywood Lies has a movie-making element where everyone acts out a scene from their movie, which is a lot of fun.
(And as a word of caution, I wrote Hollywood Lies, so anything I say about it is biased!)
They are both silly, intense and challenging in their own ways - I'm not sure which is the harder murder mystery to solve.
Anyway, I hope that helps.

Backstage Business - a 1980s rock music themed murder mystery for 18-22 guests.
Here's my suggested quick route through the site:
Step 1 - Go to Choosing a Game to choose the game that suits your party best.
Step 2 - Review the Tips for Hosts for helpful advice.
