Character assignments for The Auction

Hi, thank you for putting up such a great/helpful website!

Do you have any suggestions for character assignments in The Auction?

Some of the other games note which characters work best with one's most extroverted guests.

Thanks!

My response:

I don't have any suggestions, I'm afraid - and as you note the publishers of The Auction don't provide any guidance.

So my suggestions would be not better than yours!

Sorry that's not much help.

And another thing... NEW

Me again. I should also say that, if you really, really want an Extrovert rating for the game, let Steve know c/o this site and I'll send him something privately for him to pass on to you. Whatever works best for you...

Introverts/Extroverts NEW
by: Anonymous

An interesting question. I'm one of the authors of The Auction and the casting in it is usually based just on the character descriptions provided in the Guest List. If you think someone will enjoy playing a particular character, assign it to them. When pushed, we do sometimes provide Introvert/Extrovert ratings but don't think they are necessarily all that useful. They may reassure the person doing the casting but don't help the game itself very much. We could be wrong but we hope our characters are written in such a way that anyone can play any of them - and whatever they bring to their character will work fine. The only exception is the role of the police inspector, which should of course be played by someone who is confident about reading information out to everyone.
I hope our approach isn't wrong but it might be. Do please let us know how the game was for you and if, after playing it, you still believe those Extrovert ratings would be useful, tell us. I promise we'll listen to what you have to say!
