My boyfriend and I would like to host a murder mystery party for around 30 guests aged between 28 - 30 on New Years Eve. We've never played a murder mystery game, let alone hosted one, but the games on this site sound like they lead us through the game which is great.
Bearing in mind the above, which game would you recommend? We were quite keen on the Cudham Riding Club game as it was the correct size, the host doesn't know the outcome and we liked the added horse race betting bit.
Do you think that would be a good game for us, or do you recommend any others? Any other tips or things to look out for would be great too.
My response:
Yes, Cudham Riding Club is a good game for beginners - although I wouldn't describe it as suitable for conservative groups. There's no nudity or profanity in it, but the characters are particularly horrible to one another in that game (which makes it a lot of fun, of course).
And it does include full instructions for running it.
As host, you just need to be careful not to read the solution if you don't want to know whodunnit. I suggest that when you print it out you seal it in an envelope straight away.
I hope you have a great time with Cudham Riding Club - let me know how it goes!

Backstage Business - a 1980s rock music themed murder mystery for 18-22 guests.
Here's my suggested quick route through the site:
Step 1 - Go to Choosing a Game to choose the game that suits your party best.
Step 2 - Review the Tips for Hosts for helpful advice.
