The Last Gasp (Party Like It's 1899)

by William
(Los Angeles, California)

We had 35 guests to our home for a fundraiser to benefit our childrens' school, and we were amazed at how successful it was.

Most people showed up in full costume, but for those who didn't we had a basket of hats, gloves and costume jewelry, etc.

To my surprise, everyone stayed in character throughout the party. It was hilarious. Even the less important characters had tasks to complete and probably didn't realize that they were playing "small" parts. The highlight of the party was when the Queen was assassinated! Most unexpected.

It took a fair amount of preparation to make it happen. We finally decided to create a binder with the events tabbed as they were to unfold. That way, there could be no confusion should the host indulge in a bit too much wine along the way.
