Trying to choose the right game

by David Riddick

We would prefer to have a game where the characters are assigned in advance, but nobody knows who was murdered yet, because the murder has not yet taken place. Then, once they are all together at the beginning of the party, the murder happens, and we go forward from there.

This is opposed to one where the murder has already taken place, and there is just clue gathering going on.

We looked at The Karma Club and Dazzled by Death. They looked interesting - we have about 12-14 participants - but we couldn't tell whether the murder had already happened. Please let me know.

My response:

The murder takes place before the start of the game (just before) in both The Karma Club and Dazzled by Death.

On the other hand, Snow Business and Murder at Sea both have murders during the game. In the case of Snow Business, there's an additional murder on top of the initial death...

But either way, there's loads more to a Freeform Games murder mystery than just the murder - there are lots of other plots going on as well.
